Organisers

The international bauma Innovation Award dates back to the German Construction Machinery Day, at which cutting-edge technologies from Germany were honoured until 2004.

It has been awarded in this form every three years since 2007, jointly organised by the VDMA, VDMA Services GmbH, bauma and the leading associations of the German construction industry, HDB, ZDB and bbs. The VDMA is in charge of the organisation.

bauma, the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment, is the most important industry event for the global construction machinery industry and its decision-makers. It is the industry's most important business platform and the hub for all markets.

In 2022, bauma recorded a total of 3,227 exhibitors from 60 countries and over 495,000 visitors from more than 200 countries. bauma is held every three years; the next trade fair will take place in Munich from 7 to 13 April 2025.

VDMA Construction – Equipment and Plant Engineering

With over 3,600 members, the VDMA is the largest network organisation and an important voice of the mechanical engineering industry in Germany and Europe. The association represents the common economic, technical and scientific interests of this unique and diverse industry.

Construction equipment and building material plant manufacturers as well as mining machinery manufacturers are organised in VDMA industry networks and two trade associations. These represent the interests of around 470 members. The VDMA is the conceptual and technical sponsor of bauma.

The Federation of the German Construction Industry (HDB)

The Federation of the German Construction Industry (HDB) is the umbrella organisation of the construction industry in Germany. Together as a family of associations, it is strong at all levels - from the local authority to the state to the federal level. As the voice of the construction industry vis-à-vis politics, administration and society, the HDB is committed to the overall interests of the industry in order to strengthen its competitiveness and contribute to Germany's future viability and ensures the best possible framework conditions at national, European and international level. Its strength lies in its united presence. With ten regional associations, it represents large and medium-sized, often family-run companies in the construction industry. Eight trade associations are also extraordinary members.

The Central Association of the German Construction Industry (ZDB)

The Central Association of the German Construction Industry is the oldest and largest construction association in Germany. It represents the interests of around 35,000 medium-sized, owner-managed construction companies in a wide range of sectors: from traditional building construction, road construction and civil engineering to finishing. These include tilers, traditional carpenters, timber constructors, insulators, concrete block and terrazzo manufacturers, well builders, specialised foundation engineers, screed layers, furnace and chimney builders and turnkey builders, as well as companies that offer all services from project management to facility management and complete PPP projects. As the largest industry association, the organisation represents the entire spectrum of the construction industry. The ZDB brings together both small, owner-managed companies characterised by craftsmanship and large medium-sized companies. The Central Association of the German Construction Industry is a trade association, employers' organisation and technical association in equal measure.

The German Building Materials Association (bbs)

The German Building Materials Association is the umbrella organisation of the building materials, bricks and mortar industry and thus represents the joint economic and industrial policy interests of 15 individual sectors and around 4,000 companies. With around 150,000 employees, the German building materials industry generates an annual turnover of more than 40 billion euros.
